scholarships for youth

"scholarship program" gives village youth a chance to continue their education

Initiated in 2006, the "Scholarship Program" provides an annual opportunity for elementary school students from the village of Tuixoquel to continue their education (Grade 7-9) in a nearby village.  Currently there are nine students benefitting from this program.  Each student is progressing well academically, and has expressed an interest in one day being able to "give back" to their community.  Research demonstrates the impact that education has on improving career prospects and health and decreasing family size.  These adolescents are opening doors of opportunity by continuing their education.  They have also become role models for other youths in the community.
