Learning through dance
high school dance course gives students a voice
In 2008 the students at Fezeka High School received the opportunity to express themselves in a unique extra-curricular dance program funded by CEF. The workshops gave kids the chance to experience professional African dance close up and to participate in the fun of performing. iKapa Dance Theatre and its Outreach department (Imbewu yeKapa School of Arts) oversaw the program that ran three days per week.

Photography program
high school photography course puts students behind the lens and in front of the classroom
In 2008, CEF funded a photography program at Fezeka High School in the Guguletu Township, South Africa. By providing the necessary equipment and instruction, the program has given students a chance to look at the world from a different perspective and the opportunity to document their individual lives. In addition, CEF sponsored two students and a teacher to attend a photography training program offered by Bridges To Understanding. The participants learned additional skills and techniques which they could then pass along to fellow students in an extra-curricular program at school. What's truly exciting about this project is the connection of photographers supporting the growth of photographers in a developing nation.
