Meet Kevin Moore - CEF's Live Blogger & Correspondent in London!

Barbara Veres, CEF Social Media Coordinator This Sunday September 18th marks the start another Solstice shoot with our newest volunteer, Kevin C Moore, who will take over as the official voice of CEF on Twitter and Facebook.  Kevin will be our “behind the scenes” photographer for two days as our shoot takes place in London, England.  Originally from Lakeland, Florida, Kevin finds it much easier to just tell people he grew up near Disney World.  He studied graphic design in university and incorporated photography in almost every project.

Kevin’s passion for photography eventually led him to London where he completed his Masters of Arts in photography at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.  Growing up, cameras always seemed like “grown-up” toys, so naturally, he wanted one for himself.  At the age of thirteen, he took a summer course in black and white photography at the local art museum and never looked back.  Kevin found a love for portrait photography and finds random interactions with strangers most inspirational for his work.

As he reminisces, “My favorite is when people ask me for directions in the street (this happens a lot in London) and we both happen to be going the same way – I like to have a nice little chat with them until we split up. It's strange to think of having this short connection with a person who you will probably never see again in your life. That's one of many things I like about photographing people.”

When first asked by his cousin and our Communications Chair, Doug Moore, to help out with the London shoot, Kevin thought it was a great idea.

As he states, “When you're young and working hard to establish your career it can be a bit of a challenge to find extra time for volunteering,” he says, “but I think it's important to take a step back from your own life and see how you can use your skills to improve the lives of others... [the shoot is] going to be pretty fun and crazy.”

Recently married just last month, Kevin does not plan on leaving London anytime soon - well, at least, not until CEF’s London Summer Solstice is over!  If you’re interested in finding out more about what’s happening with Kevin at the London Summer Solstice, check out our Twitter and Facebook page on September 18th & 19th where he’s agreed to be our guest blogger and correspondent on what’s looking to be an exciting and fun two days of shooting!
